General Information
Make plans to attend this large 1-Day "NO RESERVE" auction being held for Mr. and Mrs. Jim Baier, Fort Madison, IA. Jim and Linda have been collecting lightning rods, weathervanes and related items for many years. They have amassed a very impressive collection which includes many rare and sought after pieces. We have transported this large collection along with other collectibles from their Fort Madison, IA home to our Hamilton, IL climate controlled facility for this huge 1-Day sit down style cataloged unreserved auction. The following list of items is a greatly abbreviated overview of some of the items to be offered. Watch our website in the weeks prior to the auction as we will be photographing, cataloging and describing these items. Once again make plans to be in Hamilton, IL on Saturday, December 10, 2011 to participate in this tremendous auction. Live internet will be available for those who are unable to attend. Highlights
Fantastic offering of weathervanes to include: Several styles and sizes of cows; several styles and sizes of pigs; several styles and sizes of trotting, prancing, walking and circus horses; other weathervanes such as antique cars, sheep, chickens, donkey, corn and others. Hundreds of lightning rod glass balls including various Mercury in numerous colors, also cobalt and other blue colors, sun color Amethyst SCA, amber, milk glass, ruby red, white, red, other various shades; nice selection of hanging tear drop pendant style glass balls with colors such as cobalt blue, gold Mercury, red, silver Mercury, blue milk glass and others (some of these appear to be NOS); other weathervanes with colored glass inserts, many of which have advertising such as Black Swan Co., Barnett, Kretzer, Miller, James, Electra, other glass inserted kite tails such as red hearts and balls, shooting stars, yellow slag, ball and arrow and many, many others; other lightning rod related items will include SCA sharp pleat pumpkin 5" ball, SCA sharp pleat 5 1/2" ball, chestnut balls, caramel slag doorknob ball, green milk glass ball, amber & clear green ribbed grape 4 1/2" ball, Barnett 4 1/2" balls in green and cobalt colors, ribbed grape ball, Barnett "round ribbed" blue balls, SCA raised quilt and sharp pleat balls, flat quilt Mercury balls in several colors, D&S balls in slag, cobalt blue, silver, gold and amber mercury, other milk glass swirl balls in white and blue, several Hawkeye lightning balls; large quantity of other related items such as finials, lightning rod stands, brackets, related advertising signs, etc.
Other collectibles being offered include several guns. These guns are in excellent condition. Winchester lever-action Model 1873, 32-20 cal. w/ octagon barrel, this gun is excellent and was shipped from Winchester in 1882 as documented. Also selling several J. Stevens 22 cal. brass framed pistols. Serial numbers available on our website. Please note two of these pistols have original skeleton style detachable stocks. (2) Ithaca Model 37, 12 ga. Feartherlite shotguns. Both guns have vent ribs and both guns are Ducks Unlimited commemoratives. Several wooden fish decoys; Rare slave cradle in excellent condition; Murray Royal Deluxe pedal car; driveway style standing policeman Coca-Cola sign on original cast iron base; restored visible gas pump; "tombstone" style Coca-Cola vending machine w/ optional side mount drinking fountain (excellent); several pressed steel toy trucks; few vintage signs (all in excellent condition); Keen Kutter etched glass/wood table top style show case; Indian artifact collection including axes and arrowheads; marbles including sulfide; and many other items.
