This large 2-Day Estate Auction will be held on-site at 2 separate locations in Kearny & Finney County, Kansas (SW Kansas).

About the collection

Auction being held for the heirs of the late Raimon G. “Bud” Walters, Jr.

Mr. Walters, along with his brothers, owned and operated Walters Motor Co., which was a Chrysler, Plymouth, Dodge new car dealership. See the above circa 1950 photo of the Walters brothers. Also note, the “RARE” double sided porcelain neon Chrysler Plymouth dealer sign, along with the Chrysler Plymouth Approved Service double sided porcelain signs in the photograph. These signs & other Mopar signs from the dealership are included in the auction.

Mr. Walters was never married & spent most of his life collecting. According to those that knew Bud… “Nothing was for sale”! As stated, this auction will include over 400 collector vehicles with 200+ selling each day. The executors are holding nothing back. As this catalog goes to press, the vehicles are located at 8 Southwest Kansas locations. All the vehicles, tractors, memorabilia, etc is being transported to 2 separate locations.

This will be a live onsite auction. Live internet bidding will be available on all vehicles, antique tractors & “significant” signs & memorabilia. There will be a huge quantity of items that will only be offered to the onsite bidders.

 

Sale order

Day 1 • Mon., September 17 @ 8 AM CDT. Selling approx. 200+ collector vehicles. Also selling several antique tractors & “most” of the antique signs. We will also be selling a large quantity of antique windmills, electric gas pump, farm implements, horse drawn buggies, vintage soda machine, farm collectibles & misc. other items. Expect 2 auction rings selling simultaneously.

Day 2 • Tues., September 18 @ 8 AM CDT. Selling approx. 200+ collector vehicles. Also selling a few antique tractors, misc. antique signs, visible gas pump, large quantity of license plates, antique farm implements, trailers, stain glass windows, antique oak ice boxes & other antique furniture, large cast iron bell, farm collectibles, etc. Expect 2 auction rings selling simultaneously.

Terms & conditions

Everything must be settled for in full at the end of each day. NO EXCEPTIONS. Bidding number will be good for both days. Buyer registration will be video taped and photo ID will be required to get a bidder number. Every item sells absolute without any minimums or reserves. No on-site buyer’s premium. Method of payment: Cash, good check, or major credit card (credit card users are subject to a 3% convenience fee). Disclaimer: Everything sells “as is.” No returns—buyers must do their due diligence. Presale registration & Open house

NO EARLY LOOKERS, AS THE AUCTION CREW WILL BE BUSY SETTING UP. To allow potential buyers the opportunity of inspecting the vehicles, tractors, etc., we are going to be conducting a 2-day Open House on Saturday & Sunday, September 15th & 16th from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM CDT both days. In addition to the Open House, our cashiers will also be set up issuing bid numbers. We strongly encourage all bidders to register early, as there will be a large crowd the mornings of the auction.

 

Loadout

Auction personnel will be onsite throughout the auction assisting in load out. All items must be removed by Saturday, September 25th, unless special arrangements have been made. Sullivan Auctioneers does not charge any fee for loading out.

This 2 day auction is being held in Southwest Kansas, approx. 45 miles east of the Colorado border & approx. 70 miles north of the Oklahoma border in Finney & Kearny County, KS.

Be watching for directional signs beginning on Saturday morning, September 15th. Signs for the day 1 auction will be located along Hwy. 25, south of Lakin, KS, along Hwy. 50, north of Deerfield, KS & in Holcomb, KS at the Junction of E. Railroad Ave. & West River Rd.

Signs for the day 2 auction will be from Garden City, KS beginning at the stoplight at the Junction of Old US 50, W. Kansas Ave. & N. Taylor Ave. (McDonald’s restaurant & “The Garden City Inn Motel”.

Disclaimer: All 400+ vehicles will sell at “no reserve”, regardless of price. All vehicles will be sold as is. This vehicle list is preliminary, Due to the vehicles being stored in very tight locations. Many of the VIN tags on the vehicles have not yet been inspected, Therefore some of the model years will be approximate and will change slightly as the VIN tags and titles are matched. Watch for updates throughout the summer.

In regards to the vehicle conditions… all 400+ vehicles will be in non running condition. Most have been sitting in the southwest Kansas dry climate for decades. Some have been stored in barns, sheds & even train cars. Most are sitting in rows on the Walters ranches. These vehicles will nearly all be sunburnt with fantastic patina. All vehicles will be photographed and described for our online bidding catalog later in the summer. Stay tuned.
